Boarding your Horse at Liberty View Farm

Liberty View Farm is a private family-owned facility that offers attentive and high-quality care to your horse in a low-key environment. With full access to trails, indoor and outdoor lighted arenas with no-dust footing, a galloping trail, cross-country and stadium jumps, Liberty View Farm has it all without the hassle of a busy competition barn.

"Life at Liberty View Farm is very peaceful - the setting is lovely and the horses are well cared for, safe and happy. Margot is a very dedicated horsewoman with many years of experience teaching, eventing and managing horses. She is a gifted instructor and has been very patient with me as I try to continue riding after two hip replacements."

-- Diane, owner of Joe

Full Board

Liberty View Farm has six 12x12 matted and well-ventilated stalls. Sawdust or “Woodypet” is used as bedding. Our base feed is Purina's Ultium 12% fat high performance feed and excellent hay—grass and timothy/grass-2x/day up to one bale per horse per day. If your horse has special feeding/supplement/grain needs, we accommodate them.

Lush rolling pasture is offered daily and with generally no more than 4 horses per pasture. All fields have run-ins and most have automatic waterers. Turnout times are based on the season—winter: horses are in at night; summer: horses are in during the day. Please note that it is our philosophy that horses are happiest out--NOT confined to a stall 12-14 hours a day. It has ben proven to be best for their motility, attitude, and general well-being, particularly for horses whose owners cannot ride with enough frequency. Therefore, in good weather, horses will be kept out 24/7 unless health or competition requirements necessitate a change. Blanketing is included free of charge.

A boarder's tackroom with one saddle and bridle rack, as well as storage bin, is included in the price. Boarders also have a heated bathroom with washing machine for their use in cleaning saddle pads and bandages. No blankets, please! Two wash stalls with hot and cold water are also available for use.

We require a one-month notice from anyone planning to leave our facility.

Field Board

Field boarders have run-in shelters and water at all times. Grain and hay is fed 2x/day on the regular feeding schedule. Field boarders have use of a NEW auxiliary storage room for tack. Of course, field boarders are welcome to use the bathroom and wash stalls, as well as all other LVF amenities.

Routine

All horses follow a routine at Liberty View. Morning feeding occurs between 7 and 9:00am, followed by turnout and stable chores. Evening feeding occurs between 3:30 and 5:00pm, depending on our afternoon lesson class schedule.

Horse Health

Our farrier is Suzie Sushko. She visits as necessary. You may use your own farrier but it becomes your responsibility to arrange the visit and hold your horse, otherwise an additional handling fee will be incurred.

The worming and vaccination program we use is under the guidance and advice of Dr. Cooper Williams. Worming will be done in house every 6 weeks. All horses must arrive having been recently wormed, proof of a negative coggins, and proof of vaccinations—influenza, strangles, E/W – tet combo,  flu and rhino. West Nile is recommended but optional.

Once on schedule, ALL vaccinations will be given by Dr. Williams and the billing will be directly from Dr. Williams to each of you. We believe this comprehensive approach will best maximize your horse's protection. It is most important that all the horses at Liberty View be on the same schedule to offer the best protection possible and minimize the problems of parasite re-infestation.

Liberty View Farm has just invested in over 5,000 linear feet of new 4-board fencing and cannot accommodate cribbers at this time.

Restricted Turn Out

Private turn out for medical reasons is available at an extra charge. Occasionally horses will have to have limited grass/turnout. Again, this may be an additional charge. Horses are not turned out with boots unless specifically requested.

Insurance

Liberty View Farm does not carry any insurance on privately owned horses. Many of you carry individual insurance on your animals. It is recommended that you consider major medical coverage in addition to your mortality insurance. It is important that the name of the insurance company, company representative and policy number be on file in the office. Also, if owners are going away, they MUST leave a telephone number where they can be reached and/or the name and telephone number of a local contact person responsible to make decisions in case of a true emergency. A written statement indicating emergency procedures to follow will also suffice. For example, how to intervene if your horse needs colic surgery in your absence. If your horse becomes ill, we will notify the vet and you, depending on the severity of the problem, and will perform whatever treatments, dispense medications and so on, as necessary. Liberty View Farm cannot authorize any emergency medical procedures and/or surgical treatments, or transport horses off the property in your absence. You will be responsible for ANY bills incurred for medical situations.
